International NaviGate – a meeting place for industry experts: Digitalization, environmental matters and the need for experts
NaviGate, an expo taking place on the 16th and 17th of May, is a major international meeting place for the maritime industry, shipping companies and maritime logistics. NaviGate is organized every two years at the Turku Fair Center, and this year’s expo is bigger than ever. Approximately 200 companies from across the industry will be taking part in the expo, which will also feature ‘Matchmaking’ encounters to help companies build connections and partnerships.
The key themes right now in the industry are digitalization, the environment, and the need for industry experts in a changing world.
The expo will present, among other things, recent developments in Arctic shipping. The opening day program on the 16th of May will include a seminar on new Finnish technologies for the needs of Arctic shipping.
Future challenges and opportunities will also be addressed on the opening day, with Jan Meyer, the CEO of Meyer Turku Shipyard, as keynote speaker.
Other current topics to be discussed during the day are future energy sources and safe maritime shipping in Arctic areas. Information will be provided on, for instance, the methods used by the Finnish Meteorological Institute.
Day two of the expo will begin with the topic of digitalization. Autonomous ships, the test area for autonomous ships in Eurajoki and self-driving cars will be the topics of the day.
A seminar on maritime logistics solutions will be held on the 17th of May.
